<dc:title>Association of the Peripheral Inflammatory-Immunological Marker HALP with Alzheimer’s Disease Diagnosis and Cognitive Impairment</dc:title>

<dc:description>Objective To investigate the association between the hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet (HALP) index and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) diagnosis and cognitive function. Methods Patients with AD and cognitively normal controls were retrospectively enrolled. Logistic regression analysis, restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis were performed to evaluate the associations of HALP with AD diagnosis and cognitive scores. Results The HALP index was lower in the AD group than in the control group (P=0.019). Low HALP status was associated with an increased risk of AD diagnosis (OR=1.984, P=0.046). HALP showed nonlinear associations with both AD risk and MoCA scores, and was independently positively associated with MoCA scores (β=0.057, P=0.004). The area under the curve (AUC) of the combined HALP and APOE ε4 model was higher than that of the APOE ε4-only model (0.645 vs. 0.601, P=0.032).Conclusion Low HALP levels are associated with increased AD risk and poorer cognitive function, suggesting that HALP may serve as an auxiliary indicator reflecting peripheral inflammatory/immune-nutritional status.</dc:description>
