<dc:description>This study investigated the secondary metabolites of Talaromyces kabodanensis strain 22031840, an endophytic fungus isolated from the medicinal mangrove plant Rhizophora stylosa. 16 known compounds were isolated using column chromatography including silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, and ODS, combined with semi-preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Their chemical structures were subsequently elucidated by modern spectroscopic techniques, which were identified as follows: talaromyketide E (1), aspergillumarin A (2), (R)-aspergillumarin B (3), (S)-aspergillumarin B (4), (2E)-3-[(3R)-3,4-dihydro-6,8-dihydroxy-1-oxo-1H-2-benzopyran-3-yl]-2-propenoic acid (5), penicimarin I (6), lunatinin (7), (Z)-6-acetyl-3-(1,2-dihydroxypropylidene)-5-hydroxy-8-methylchroman-2-one (8), (R)-6-hydroxymellein (9), 7-hydroxy-2,3,5-trimethyl-4H-chromen-4-one (10), 5,7-dihydroxy-2-methyl-4-chromen (11), 6-hydroxymethyl-2,2-dimethylchromanone (12), 3,4-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-4-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-7- carboxylic acid (13), methyl ester farinomalein (14), talaromydine (15) and 3-(propan-2-ylidene)-pyrrolidine-2,5-dione (16). Among them, compounds 10 and 13 were characterized as new natural products, and the biosynthetic pathways of the isolated series of compounds were proposed. All isolated compounds were evaluated for antibacterial activities against four strains of Staphylococcus aureus and DPPH radical-scavenging antioxidant activities. The results revealed that none of the compounds exhibited significant inhibitory activities.</dc:description>
