<dc:title>Accelerated Aging and the Association of Sleep Duration with Mortality Study</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.o00130.03028</dc:identifier>

<dc:description>Background ：Accelerated aging and sleep duration are thought to have an effect on mortality outcomes, and whether accelerated aging mediates the effect of sleep duration on mortality is currently unstudied; this paper examines the effect of accelerated aging and sleep duration on mortality outcomes through mediation analysis. Methods： Data were obtained using 12,477 participants (20-84 years) from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Indicators of phenotypic age were calculated using nine blood markers, and accelerated senescence was calculated by the difference between phenotypic and actual age, with a difference greater than zero indicating accelerated senescence. Logistics regression, cox proportional risk modeling, and mediation analysis were used to explore the effects of sleep duration and accelerated aging on mortality outcomes. Results ：Sleep duration had an adverse effect on accelerated aging and mortality outcomes in other subgroups relative to 7 hours of sleep duration. Accelerated senescence mediated 66% of the association between sleep duration and death. Conclusions ：Accelerated aging partially mediated the association between sleep duration and mortality outcomes, suggesting that slowing aging has implications for public health.</dc:description>
