  <dc:title>Mirror Gazing-Induced State Dissociation</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.psych.000wk</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>Under strict matching whiteboard control, examine whether mirror gaze induces higher intensity and more dimensional state dissociation, and examine its correlation with trait dissociation and traumatic factors. 100 college students were randomly subjected to 10 minutes of low light mirror gaze or whiteboard gaze in a low light environment of approximately 1 lux. State dissociation was measured before and after the task, and trait dissociation, adverse childhood experiences, and complex post-traumatic stress symptoms were evaluated. The results showed that the average level of depersonalization and dissociative forgetting increased in both groups of participants, while the levels of depersonalization and dissociative forgetting only increased in the mirror group. The participants' open-ended experience descriptions were consistent with the above results. In the mirror group, trait dissociation and traumatic symptoms can predict pre task state dissociation; Self organizational dysfunction can predict post task depersonalization and dissociative forgetting, trait dissociation can predict post task depersonalization, but after controlling for pre task levels, it can no longer predict post task levels. The results indicate that sustained low light gaze can induce a sense of unreality, while mirror gaze can induce stronger and more multidimensional state dissociation. Its association with trait dissociation and traumatic factors may reflect existing susceptibility, supporting it as a candidate experimental paradigm for transient induction of multidimensional state dissociation.&amp;nbsp;</dc:description>
