<dc:title>Research dataset of future-oriented emotional predominance in large-scale online sales promotions</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.psych.01074</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>The dataset comprises five files (Study 1 to Study 5).Study 1 is a qualitative in‑depth interview study that explores consumers' thinking patterns and emotional states in decision‑making during large‑scale online sales promotions, and provides a preliminary test of the hypotheses. The data file includes the interview guide, the interview results from 30 respondents, and demographic information such as gender, age, educational background, and occupation.Study 2 is a questionnaire survey that examines the correspondence between the surface‑level and deep‑level structures of conditional framing and prefactual thinking. The data file contains the experimental materials and the responses of 182 participants to items on demographic information, whether they had participated in the &amp;quot;618&amp;quot; promotion, planned purchase categories and quantities, purchase budget, as well as items measuring conditional restrictions, material incentives, sentence structure, and prefactual thinking.Study 3 is a psychological experiment that, through poster and textual displays, investigates the differences in consumers' adoption of additive‑upward versus subtractive‑downward prefactual thinking in decision‑making during large‑scale online sales promotions. The data file includes the experimental materials and the responses of 214 participants regarding their willingness to participate in &amp;quot;Double 11,&amp;quot; their willingness to participate in &amp;quot;618,&amp;quot; and the order in which additive‑upward and subtractive‑downward prefactual thinking were elicited.Study 4 is a psychological experiment that, following the experimental design of Study 3, further explores consumers' emotional states in decision‑making during large‑scale online sales promotions, and measures the intensity of future‑oriented emotions through scenario‑based elicitation. The data file contains the experimental materials and the responses of 208 participants on gender, willingness to participate in &amp;quot;Double 11,&amp;quot; and ratings of hope, anxiety, anticipated elation, and anticipated regret.Study 5 is a questionnaire survey that investigates the intensity of prefactual thinking and future‑oriented emotions induced by large‑scale online sales promotions, as well as the internal relationship between the two. The data file includes the responses of 477 participants to the questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of four parts: (1) demographic information; (2) an item on whether they had participated in the &amp;quot;Double 12&amp;quot; promotion (if not, they were not required to continue); (3) choices regarding planned purchase categories and quantities and purchase budget; and (4) measures of prefactual thinking and future‑oriented emotions.</dc:description>
