<dc:title>Dataset for Development of Creative Thinking Generation and Evaluation in Children Aged 4-8 Years: Evidence from Behavioral Data and fNIRS</dc:title>
  <dc:identifier>doi:10.57760/sciencedb.psych.01088</dc:identifier>
  <dc:language>en</dc:language>
<dc:description>This dataset mainly includes children&amp;rsquo;s basic age and gender information, responses in the creative generation task and expert ratings, children&amp;rsquo;s self-evaluations of the novelty and usefulness of their own ideas, as well as brain function indicators collected and processed using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). The behavioral data include expert ratings of the novelty and usefulness of children&amp;rsquo;s creative ideas, children&amp;rsquo;s self-rated novelty and usefulness scores, and indicators related to the consistency between children&amp;rsquo;s self-evaluations and expert ratings. The fNIRS data include HbO changes during the creative generation and self-evaluation phases, activation indicators for regions of interest (ROIs), functional connectivity matrices during the generation phase, and graph-theoretical network metrics. This dataset can be used for further analyses on topics such as the development of children&amp;rsquo;s creativity, the generation-evaluation dual-process of creative thinking, creative metacognition, fNIRS-based neural mechanisms of children&amp;rsquo;s creativity, and age-related changes in brain networks. The data help reveal the relationships among creative idea generation, self-evaluation calibration, and brain functional organization in children aged 4&amp;ndash;8 years, and may provide empirical evidence for early childhood creativity assessment, creativity education interventions, and developmental cognitive neuroscience research.</dc:description>
