<dc:description>Establish a liquid-liquid extraction high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry analysis method for barbiturates, phenobarbital, pentobarbital, and scobarbital in cosmetics. After dispersing the sample matrix, 80% methanol aqueous solution was used for ultrasonic extraction, and n-hexane and dichloromethane liquid-liquid extraction were used for purification. Poroshell 120 EC-C18 chromatographic column (100 mm × 2.1 mm, 2.7 μ m) is used as the separation column, water and methanol are used as mobile phases for gradient elution, electrospray ionization anion mode (ESI) and multi reaction monitoring (MRM) are used for qualitative and quantitative analysis, and external standard method is used for quantitative analysis. The results showed that the four barbiturates had good linear relationships within their respective ranges, R2≥0.995， The detection limit (LOD) is 0.06 mg/kg, and the quantification limit (LOQ) is 0.20 mg/kg. The average recovery rate was 80.7%~108.1% at three spiked levels, with a relative standard deviation (RSD, n=6) of 1.53%~9.79%. Using this method, 10 cosmetics sold online were tested, and the results showed that one sample detected phenobarbital with a content of 0.615 mg/kg, indicating the risk of illegal addition of barbiturates in commercially available cosmetics. This method does not require a matrix matching curve, is easy to operate, fast and efficient, has a wide range of applications, good accuracy and repeatability, and provides sensitive, reliable, and practical technical support for the daily monitoring and risk control of illegal addition of barbiturates in cosmetics. This dataset provides all 3 figures and 4 data tables in the form of paper attachments. Table 1 contains the MS parameters of barbiturates. Table 2 MEs of barbiturate compounds in five cosmetics. Table 3 Linear equations, coefficient of determination (R2), limits of detection (LODs) and limits of quantification (LOQs) of barbiturate compounds. Table 4: Recoveries and RSDs of the four barbiturate compounds in five cosmetic matrices. Figure 1 Total ion chromatograms of barbiturate drugs using different mobile phases. Figure 2 Chromatograms of barbiturates under the multiple reaction monitoring mode. Figure 3 Influence of different extraction solvents on the extraction recoveries of barbiturate drugs in different types of cosmetics. </dc:description>
